My experience of being a father has been one big learning experience. My parents split when I was a teenager. Prior to my parents split, I remember my Dad working a lot and providing for our family financially. I have very few memories of my Dad actually spending time with me. Once my parents split, my Dad didn’t play an active role in raising me however; we talked infrequently and had an amicable relationship. Around the time of my 22nd birthday, my Dad passed. The lack of interaction that I had with my Dad somewhat molded me into the Dad I am today. I have two sons, a ten year old and an almost two year old. I make sure that I am spending time with them and work hard to be a good role model. This hasn’t always been the case.
Years prior, when my oldest son was younger, I didn’t make the best choices and wasn’t the best provider. Through re-dedicating myself and my life to God, and with the support of my wife, I was able to change my life for the better, which I believed changed the path and future for my sons. I currently evangelize God’s word through my company Thus Said Promotions. Not only have I put out songs, I’ve also helped others maximize the vision God has given them through my company’s resources. I’ve included my son in several of my videos. The main one being “Real Baby Daddys”. This song talks about the times that I wasn’t being the best Dad to my son and how that changed. I don’t think my son realizes the magnitude of the song at his current age, as he and my youngest son become adults, my hope is that it will inspire them to be the best husbands and Dads that they can be.
